THE CHANGING FACE OF ENERGY IN MICHIGAN
Valerie Brader, Executive Director of the new Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE), will be addressing a joint meeting of the Rotary Club of Lowell and the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Ms. Brader served as an environmental consultant to the EPA and Department of Defense before serving as Deputy Legal Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor to Gov. Snyder.
- Brader will help coordinate efforts to meet the state’s energy needs with sources other than coal by replacing 10 coal power plants across the state with cleaner energy sources.
- Brader will speak to Rotary and Chamber members about the changing face of energy in the state and its impact on businesses.
- Brader will tour Lowell Energy Center on Chatham St., home to the biodigester, a joint project between Lowell Energy Anaerobic Digester (LEAD) and Lowell Light & Power.
- The nation’s first Upflow/Downflow/Reflow anaerobic digester it will provide enough electricity to power more than 800 homes.
